For those Arrow fans wondering how Laurel might start to make the transition from feisty district attorney to leather-wearing vigilante, well, we might have just figured it out.

EW has confirmed that J.R. Ramirez is joining Arrow‘s third season as Ted “Wildcat” Grant. Ted is an ex-boxer who will run a gym for underprivileged youth in Starling City. But how might Laurel fit into this picture? Well, in the comics, Ted is a member of the Justice Society of America, and it just so happens that he specializes in training crimefighters such as Black Canary. So maybe Laurel will be putting that leather jacket to good use after all.

Arrow returns for season three on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m.
