TV Guide Magazine hosted the panel “Greendale Forever” in honor of the impending sixth season of Community on Yahoo TV. The panel included Community creator-mascot Dan Harmon, longtime writer Chris McKenna, and cast members Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, and Jim Rash, plus Dino “Star Burns” Stamatopoulos.

The ebullient panel didn’t reveal very much about the upcoming season, although Harmon did announce that he wanted to adhere to the same basic Community episode structure even though the show is no longer bound by broadcast restrictions. “My philosophy is: Attempt to make the same show, and let the lack of boundaries kind of make themselves felt, instead of just going, ‘We can make the episode 49 minutes long, and say the f-word the whole time.'”

The rest of the panel was mostly a series of pointed questions and vague/hilariously obtuse answers. Would they like John Oliver back? Sure, if he has time! Who’s filling the Chevy Chase Angry Old Man role? “Benedict Cumberbatch,” according to Joel McHale. What show would they love to spoof? “Dobie Gillis,” said Stamatopoulos.

When will the show come back? That’s a question mark. When an audience member asked about the possibility of Halloween and Christmas episodes, McKenna noted that they were still working out the timeline of when the new episodes would begin streaming on Yahoo. “I don’t think it’s going to be in time,” he allowed. “We don’t want to be doing Halloween episodes in February.” Although Yahoo had initially indicated the show would return in the fall, Harmon said that the writing would actually begin in the fall, and vaguely announced that the show would return ‘probably sometime after Christmas.’

As for the current status of Troy–played until last season by departed cast member Donald Glover–Harmon teased, “Troy’s out there somewhere. He may be in peril. That’s what movies are made of.” Lest you consider that the tease for the “AndAMovie” part of #SixSeasonsAndAMovie, Harmon hastened to add, “I have no plans of that, but it could be good. A Search for Spock kind of thing. Not that I’m rejecting the idea of him coming back for season 6. Donald, if you’re listening.”
