'Toy Story' meets 'Jurassic Park' in poster for new TV special
Last fall, ABC aired a charming Halloween special starring the Toy Story franchise’s beloved playthings. Its ratings success has paved the way for another half-hour that’ll air on the network later this holiday season—and this one has more dinos than the first.
The second special, called Toy Story That Time Forgot, finds the heroes tangling with a gang of new action figures led by Reptillus Maximus (voiced by Grey’s Anatomy star Kevin McKidd). Much like Buzz Lightyear in the franchise’s first film, Reptillus and his crew don’t know that they’re just toys—which causes some major complications, especially among the gang’s prehistoric set (Kristen Schaal’s Trixie and Wallace Shawn’s Rex).
You can catch your first glimpse at the mighty Reptillus in the special Comic-Con poster above, which debuted on TVLine. If the image looks vaguely familiar, that’s because it was designed by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.
McKidd and Schaal—not to mention copies of the poster—will be on hand for an hourlong Q&A about Toy Story That Time Forgot in San Diego Thursday, along with director Steve Purcell (who also helmed Brave), head of story Derek Thompson, producer Galyn Susman, and composer Michael Giacchino.
Though there’s no premiere date set yet, Toy Story That Time Forgot is expected to air in December.
