'Dating Naked' reveals small ratings
VH1’s Dating Naked premiere ratings are here. And while the show isn’t a total bust, the debut numbers fall short of the hype.
The premiere episode of headline-making reality series had a modest 826,000 viewers. By comparison, most of the network’s original series averaged at least a million viewers, with the top six all averaging more than 2 million (the network’s most-watched series this year, Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, averaged 3.5 million viewers, while the network’s least-watched, the short-live revival of Best Week Ever, averaged 226,000 viewers).
VH1 points out this performance is better than the show’s time period average. And when combined with its 11 p.m. repeat, the premiere audience increases to 1.3 million viewers. Besides, last night was only the first episode. So perhaps Dating Naked is a grower, not a shower? (Aww, it’s okay Dating Naked, this happens to a lot of programs, it’s not big deal, honest!)
Dating Naked features couples going on nude dates in a tropical setting. The Blind Date meets Naked & Afraid concept has outraged that one parent group, but readers have largely reacted in one of a few ways: “New reality low!” “I’ll check this out,” or “This shouldn’t be blurred.” If you missed the show, the mildly NSFW trailer is here, plus we have a clip from the premiere.
