Bravo is adding a new group of Girlfriends to its ever-growing collection of Housewives.

The network will make its first foray into scripted television with the launch of Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, a new original dramedy from showrunner Marti Noxon based on the book series by Vicki Iovine.

“When we saw Girlfriends’ Guide, we said this is the thing we’ve been waiting for,” explains development exec Lara Spotts, adding that Bravo has been slowly and deliberately trying to get into the scripted game for about four years. “Marti Noxon is such a fantastic writer, and her script was so funny and so real. She writes from such a place of truth that it felt like something very much in the zeitgeist. It’s hilarious, it’s set in a very Bravo-feeling world…it really checked so many of the boxes that we were looking for.”

Lisa Edelstein (House) stars as Abby, a self-help author who needs her own brand of help when she embarks on a divorce from her husband Jake (Paul Adelstein). To get though the perils of being both a fortysomething and a secret new divorcee, Abby shies away from her married friends and turns instead towards her divorced friends, lawyer Lyla (Janeane Garofalo) and former model Phoebe (Beau Garrett), for advice.

Girlfriends’ Guide will also feature Necar Zadegan, and guest appearances by Carrie Fisher and Laverne Cox. The series is set to debut December 2 at 10 pm on Bravo, but EW has your first exclusive look at the trailer:

At the network’s Television Critics Association press tour day in Beverly Hills, Bravo also gave the greenlight to three new series: Million Dollar Listing San FranciscoSecrets & Wives, and There Goes the Motherhood. The network also announced a fourth season of Million Dollar Listing New York and season two of Southern Charm.
