Chris Pratt is the man with 12 percent of a plan in 'Guardians' clip
The stakes have been raised. Not only do Marvel’s motley gang of space outlaws have to save the galaxy; they may have to salvage the summer. With the box-office down significantly after a dreadful July 4 weekend, the industry is now counting on Guardians of the Galaxy and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes to rescue its fortunes.
In the latest trailer, courtesy of Fandango, Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill recruits a team of ferocious losers—”I mean, folks who have lost stuff,” he says semi-eloquently—to face a blue-faced villain (Lee Pace) who wants to destroy their world.
Fortunately, he has a plan. Or at least 12 percent of a plan. And 90 percent of that 12-percent plan is to rock out to classic 1970s tunes, in this case, “Cherry Bomb,” by The Runaways.
Watch below, and keep an eye out for a quick first look at Michael Rooker as blue-faced Yondu.
The Guardians of the Galaxy opens Aug. 1.
