Maggie Gyllenhaal has a British accent now, and she’s maybe (or definitely) behind some international intrigue.

The just-released trailer for BBC Two’s eight-part miniseries features Gyllenhaal as Nessa Stein, whose father was a Zionist arms producer. As a child, she witnessed her father’s assassination; as an adult, she has inherited his company and taken it in new, possibly nefarious directions as she deals with both Israeli and Palestinian groups. Stein has also just received an appointment to a government office, and her new high-profile position is causing a political maelstrom.

To that end, the trailer falls somewhere between Homeland and House of Cards, with plenty of monologuing from Gyllenhaal and only a few details of the complicated plot. The series’ first episode aired in the UK last week, and British reviews have praised both the show and Gyllenhaal’s performance. American audiences will get to see the British intelligence thriller on July 31st—though we won’t get the “u” in “Honourable,” which, to be frank, is a little disappointing.
