'Once Upon a Time' scoop: Elsa from 'Frozen' cast
Ready to meet the real live Queen Elsa of Arendelle?
ABC’s Once Upon a Time has filled the coveted role, the show’s version of Disney’s snow queen from last year’s animated mega-hit Frozen.
Actress Georgina Haig has landed the part, sources say. She’s probably best known to TV viewers from her arc on Fox’s Fringe (playing Henrietta “Etta” Bishop, the daughter of Peter Bishop and Olivia Dunham). She can also currently be seen on the CBS summer drama Reckless.
The character is loosely based on “The Snow Queen,” the Danish fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen. Earlier this week, newcomer Elizabeth Lail was cast in the show as Elsa’s younger sister Anna, and Greek alum Scott Michael Foster as Kristoff, the rugged mountain man who falls for Anna. The Frozen arc on Once Upon is expected to pick up after the events of the film.
Once Upon revealed that the queen with the frosty touch, voiced by Broadway actress Idina Menzel in the film, will be added to the show’s fairy tale ensemble during the show’s May finale (clip below).
