Pauly Shore was always a clown, but in his new documentary, Pauly Shore Stands Alone, he’s officially the crying-on-the-inside type of clown. Now 45 and more than a decade removed from a mockumentary about his dwindling popularity titled Pauly Shore is Dead, he’s still on the road, playing small comedy clubs in the Midwest as he struggles to remain relevant and maintain deteriorating relationships with his family. He frequents strip clubs, hangs with groupies, and struggles with the frequent reminders that he isn’t as famous as he used to be.

The doc, which will premiere at the Los Angeles Downtown Film Festival on July 14, will air on a cable network later this fall. His last big comedy special, Paulytics, aired on Showtime in 2012.
