This October, we’ll all get a chance to find out what Philip has to say—and what people have to say to him.

Variety reports that Tribeca Film has acquired North American rights to Alex Ross Perry’s dark comedy Listen Up Philip. The film stars Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore) as an abrasive novelist in a collapsing relationship with his photographer girlfriend, Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men). Along the way, Philip also faces off with his literary idol, Jonathan Pryce (Brazil) and the man’s daughter, Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad).

Perry, a 2006 NYU Film grad, gained acclaim for his sophomore feature The Color Wheel. Most recently, he brought Philip to a premiere at Sundance in January. The film will open to wider audiences beginning on October 17, with video-on-demand options available on Oct. 21.

Moss previously told EW about her admiration for Schwartzman’s performance in the film: “Jason has this knack for playing characters who are maybe not necessarily that likable. He doesn’t try to make them likable, but there’s something about the way he is that makes you just want to watch him. You’re interested in what his character’s doing even if he’s being an asshole.”
