Tracy Morgan leaves the hospital and enters a rehab center
30 Rock‘s Tracy Morgan, who was severely injured in a six-car accident on June 7, was released from hospital care and transferred to an undisclosed rehab center today, his rep confirms for EW. He is expected to remain in the rehab facility for several weeks.
“While he is continuing to show signs of improvement, he still has a long way to go,” his rep said. “He and Megan wanted to publicly express their deepest gratitude to everyone at Robert Wood Johnson University for the unbelievable care and attention they provided him.”
The accident, which occurred around 1 a.m., left Morgan in critical condition for several days. However, last week, Morgan’s condition was upgraded to fair. Morgan sustained multiple injuries in the accident including a broken leg, a broken femur, a broken nose and several broken ribs. Comedian James McNair, who goes by the stage name Jimmy Mack, was killed in the crash.
Following the accident, 35-year-old truck driver Kevin Roper of Jonesboro, Georgia was charged with causing the multi-vehicle crash and faces one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto.
