People Vs George Lucas Ii

Currently there are three Star Wars movies in production at Disney. There’s Star Wars: Episode VII–Maybe the Ancient Fear, directed by J.J. Abrams, which arrives in December 2015. Then there’s Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars spinoff, coming in December 2016, which is definitely about Boba Fett or definitely not about Boba Fett, depending on which way the wind is blowing. And there’s Josh Trank’s other Star Wars spinoff, which is definitely about Young Han Solo or definitely about Young Greedo or possibly about the Sarlacc Pit’s early days.

Now you can add a new Star Wars film to the pile. Kind of: The 2010 documentary The People vs. George Lucas is getting a sequel of its very own. The official website for the movie promises to explore the “Disneyfication” of the Star Wars galaxy, and will specifically ask the question: “What does the future of Star Wars look like without George Lucas?”

Of course, since the movie is coming out the same month as Episode VII, the documentary can’t really answer that question, since the perceived “Disneyfication” of the franchise is mostly based on two years of guesswork and theories and baseless opinions. Also, Lucas himself has mostly washed his hands of the franchise at this point, making the whole “vs George Lucas” thing feel a bit out of date. But the poster looks cool.
