Over the past couple of years, the Austin, Texas-based Mondo has gained a reputation for making some of the coolest movie-related posters around. Now the boutique merchandise arm of the Alamo Drafthouse cinema chain has announced the initial lineup of guests for its first ever MondoCon, which takes place September 20 and 21 at Austin’s Marchesa Hall & Theater.

Among the artists slated to appear are Mike Mignola (Hellboy), Bernie Wrightson (Swamp Thing), Basil Gogos (Famous Monsters of Filmland), Geof Darow (Hard Boiled), Francesco Francavilla (Afterlife with Archie), and the Phantom City Creative. According to the release announcing the list of guests, MondoCon will “bring together unique guests from a variety of areas to celebrate film, music, art, toys with the world’s finest artists, designers, illustrators, painters, toy creators as well as directors, composers and more. The convention will include new artwork and products as well as panels & special screenings.”

MondoCon coincides with the first weekend of the Alamo Drafthouse-organized Fantastic Fest genre film festival. Tickets for the event go on sale June 4 at the official MondoCon website.
