CNN reporter Ivan Watson experienced first-hand the political unrest in Turkey when he was detained by police while delivering a live, on-air report Saturday.

Watson was in Istanbul covering the one-year anniversary of the Taksim Square protests when he was surrounded by plain-clothes officers demanding to see his passport. Watson showed his press card before being pulled away, camera rolling.

“We’re being detained right now,” Watson says before the camera cuts out. “I’m being kicked.”

Watson tweeted about the incident, including an update that he had been released in under an hour and that police apologized:
