Monday ratings: Why didn't you watch these reality shows?
Three big reality TV series premiered Monday night, and all were somewhat lower in the ratings.
NBC’s American Ninja Warrior, Fox’s MasterChef, and ABC’s Monday night return of The Bachelorette debuted last night. The three shows had nearly the exact same number in the adult demo — about a 1.5 rating — and showed various degrees of slippage. MasterChef was down 33 percent from last year’s Wednesday premiere. Bachelorette fell 30 percent from last week’s premiere to hit its series low. NBC’s Ninja Warrior held up best — only down 12 percent from last summer’s premiere, though last year it launched later in the summer (July).
The most obvious reason you didn’t watch: Holiday weekend, of course. But will they improve in the coming weeks, or is this their respective new normals? Full chart:
