Juliette Lewis lands mystery role in 'Jem and the Holograms' movie
Deadline has confirmed that Juliette Lewis has been added to the cast of the upcoming live-action Jem and the Holograms adaptation — but who could she be playing?
Lewis’ role is reportedly being kept secret for the time being, but speculation about the the Oscar-nominated actress’ role is already flying. Could she be Jem’s AI fairy godmother, Synergy, which seems the obvious answer? Or might Lewis play someone else entirely — a re-imagined Misfit, or an original character not based on the cartoon? (Producers Jason Blum, Scooter Braun, and Jon M. Chu have already announced that they are relying on crowd-sourcing and fans to help them with the creative process.) Either way, Lewis certainly has the chops for a live-action musical, having fronted her own band (Juliette and the Licks) from 2003-2009.
No release date has been set, but production is already underway on the film, which stars Nashville‘s Audrey Peeples as Jerrica Benton (aka Jem) as well as Stefanie Scott (Kimber), Aurora Perrineau (Shana), and Hayley Kiyoko (Aja).
