VH1’s programming is about to get a lot more diverse: the network announced it has ordered an 8-episode docuseries tentatively titled TransAmerica.

Produced by Tyra Banks (America’s Next Top Model) and Gay Rosenthal (Behind The Music, Little People, Big World), TransAmerica will feature a transgender ensemble cast including model and advocate Carmen Carrera. According to a press release, “the series will follow these women as they navigate dating, family and professional ambitions on their own terms in a city known for being equally modern and traditional.”

The series will premiere in either late 2014 or early 2015.

“TransAmerica is a groundbreaking docuseries that will blow the roof off stereotypes and set the record straight as we experience the lives of these fun, stunning women,” Banks said in a statement. “I am so happy to be a part of telling their fierce story.”
