Jay Z and Solange fight: Watch Wendy Williams play detective

It was the elevator fight seen (but not heard) 'round the world.

When video surfaced of Solange Knowles seemingly attacking brother-in-law Jay Z in an elevator while leaving a Met Gala party last week at The Standard Hotel in New York, questions began circulating about what could have caused the explosive fight. Because there was no audio on the recording, it's hard to figure out exactly what is going on in the 3-minute-plus video.

Well, good thing we have Wendy Williams! The talk show queen spent about four times as much time talking about the video than its actual length at the beginning of her show Tuesday and did her best Angela Lansbury impression by digging up some clues. She even brought out notes so she wouldn't forget any important points she wanted to make. Williams' conclusion? Jay Z deserved it. Here is more of what she had to say:

"This is nothing new" Williams looks at Beyonce's passive demeanor in the video as a clue that she has seen this behavior between the two of them before and that the fighting is nothing new to the dynamic.

Solange's purse: Williams notes that Solange had a metal purse with her that weighed over a pound that could have easily done some damage.

Rachel Roy: The fashion designer has become part of the scandal, with Wendy calling out the former intern for Jay Z's clothing line for being, in Williams' words, promiscuous when she was younger, likely with the rapper himself, and that an inappropriate interaction between Roy and Jay Z sparked Solange's temper.

Fighting history: Wendy notes that both Jay Z and Solange have had a history of physical violence in the past, even Jay Z "allegedly" hitting a female fan once.

Beyonce's ring tattooL Beyonce had Jay Z's name tattooed on her ring finger and Wendy now notes it is slowly disappearing.
