'Dracula' canceled
- Book
NBC has staked Dracula.
The sexy Victorian horror series starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers as a revenge-seeking version of the infamous vampire is officially dead. The news comes the day after NBC renewed its other Friday thriller on the bubble — Hannibal, which got a third season order. Industry rumors had Hannibal, Dracula, and supernatural pilot Constantine competing for a couple slots, so once Hannibal and Constantine got picked up, Drac‘s odds seemingly lowered.
This move leaves just one NBC drama as yet undecided: Parenthood, though we keep hearing the chances look pretty good on the Thursday family drama, given the way it has performed at 10 p.m. without a strong lead-in this season. Earlier today, CBS axed five shows, while renewing The Mentalist. Find the full list of shows canceled this week here.
