Mariah Carey is taking a page from Beyoncé’s playbook — which we should all take pages from, if it means becoming Beyoncé. The OG Hello Kitty Diva is working on a new album — and plans to reveal its “title, track listing, artwork and music all at once via to-be-announced digital partners,” according to a new Billboard interview. A physical release of the album will reportedly drop the following week.

Beyoncé pulled a similar move with her last album, the self-titled epic Beyoncé, which she unexpectedly put out overnight without any previous promotion. (Because when you’re dropping a secret album, you don’t tell everyone you’re dropping a secret album.)

Carey told Billboard that her motivation for the semi-surprise is personal. “I have to be the one that announces this,” she says, “especially the title” — which comes from a “personal possession of mine that’s part of an entity that I’ve had almost all my life.”

For the new project, Carey is working with a few previous collaborators, including Rodney Jerkins and Jermaine Dupri, as well as Hit-Boy, Mike Will Made It, Wale, Nas, Trey Songz, Larry Gold, and the Love Unlimited Orchestra. She’s also got “a special guest star that [she’s] not allowed to reveal.” Looking at you, Eminem.
