True Detective‘s Erin Moriarty will star opposite Mel Gibson (The Expendables 3) in the upcoming thriller Blood Father. Penned by The Town‘s Peter Craig, the upcoming film focuses on an ex-con who reunites with his 16-year-old daughter in order to protect her from the drug dealers trying to kill her. [Variety]

• Mark Strong (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) is in talks to join Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) in his next comedy Grimsby. Strong would play a British Black Ops agent who must go on the run with his long-lost brother, played by Baron Cohen, who co-wrote the script with Phil Johnston (Wreck-It Ralph) and Peter Baynham (Alan Partridge). Filming is scheduled to begin this summer, with Sony aiming for a July 31, 2015, release. [Variety]

• Paul Feig (The Heat) has added a trio of international actors to his upcoming comedy Spy starring Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids). Bollywood star Nargis Fakhri, British comic actor Peter Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead) and Swedish comedian Bjorn Gustafsson join the all-star cast, which also includes Jason Statham (Parker), Rose Byrne (Neighbors), Jude Law (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Bobby Cannavale (Blue Jasmine), and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Escape Plan). In addition, Ukrainian transgender pop star Verka Serduchka will re-create her 2007 Eurovision song competition performance in the film after recently being banned from performing in Russia. Production has already begun on Feig’s own script in Budapest, with Fox anticipating a Memorial Day 2015 release. [Deadline]

Theater actor Ray Fisher will join Henry Cavill (The Man From U.N.C.L.E.) and Ben Affleck (Gone Girl) in Warner Bros.’ upcoming Batman vs. Superman film. Fisher will play the role of Victor Stone (also known by his superhero name, Cyborg) in the upcoming film, helmed by Man of Steel‘s Zack Snyder. [Variety]
