Teenage Emma Stone was a hit on reality TV
Long before Emma Stone wooed us in hits like Superbad, Easy A, and The Amazing Spider-Man, she was competing on reality TV.
Back in 2004, VH1 launched a competitive reality show called In Search of the New Partridge Family. The show was… searching for people to star in a TV series called The New Partridge Family. Stone made it onto the series, where she got to show off her pipes onstage, singing songs like Meredith Brooks’ “Bitch” and Pat Benatar’s “We Belong.”
“You go in there rolling your eyes, thinking, ‘this is just a reality search competition,’ but then you’re there for seven weeks, and you just really, really want to win,” Stone told Vogue in her May cover story.
Stone did end up winning a role on the show — but because The New Partridge Family was never picked up, the world never got to know her as Laurie Partridge. Fortunately, some clips from her singing days on VH1 are online — so we do get to watch and imagine what could have been.
