'Outlander:' Check out Scottish hunk who'll play Ian Murray
Starz has attracted another hunk to star in its adaptation of Outlander this summer.
Scottish actor Steven Cree (300: Rise of an Empire) will play Ian Murray, Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) best friend since childhood. Ian lost part of his leg during battle with the English but that hasn’t held him back.
Cree’s other film credits include The Awakening and voiceover work for Brave.
The series is expected to closely mirror the “Outlander” book, which follows Claire (Caitriona Balfe), a married combat nurse in the 1940s who’s vacationing with her husband (Tobias Menzies) in Scotland. Claire falls through a time-travel portal to the 18th century, where she falls in love with a young warrior (Heughan). Ron Moore (Helix, Battlestar Gallactica) is executive producing.
