Judging by its trailer, Jon Favreau’s Chef will belong in the don’t-see-on-an-empty stomach genre, much like 2009’s Julie and Julia and 2011’s Jiro Dreams of Sushi.

Favreau himself plays the title chef who is struggling to agree on a compromise with the owner (Dustin Hoffman) of his L.A. restaurant. So, naturally, he ditches the restaurant and brings along his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara), his friend (John Leguizamo), and his son to see what Miami has to offer. And we get to see a lot of food in the process.

Chef, which also stars Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr.,opened Austin’s South by Southwest Film Festival last month and hits theaters May 9.
