None of the Dancing With the Stars sparklebots seem too excited to ditch their current partners next week after the results are tallied for The Switch-Up, a dramatic but much-reviled stunt intended to build buzz for season 18. There’s been scant online support for the Switch-Up, which required viewers to vote for the celebs and pros they wanted paired up… via Twitter. (ABC would orchestrate the match-up for you on its website, but if you didn’t have a Twitter account through which they could tweet on your behalf, you weren’t participating.)

We learned tonight — full DWTS recap here — that the Switch-Up will only hold for one week. So fear not, candy fans! Your beloved M&M (Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, pictured) will reunite on Week 5.

“They can’t make me switch, can they?” Danica McKellar whined to her partner Val Chmerkovskiy. Of course they can, he set her straight. But fear not — he’d hold a candle for her.

“I’m a one-woman man,” Val assured her. “So whoever that woman is….” he joked.

The pros agreed the Switch-Up put most of the pressure on them instead of the celebs. And Maks flat-out refused to play nice about the situation, as Maks does.

“The worst thing that could happen is the Switch. But, you know. I’ll live,” he told Erin Andrews after Maks and Meryl scored a wild three 10s and one 9 for what was almost certainly the sexiest foxtrot performed on Dancing With the Stars to date. Hey, he was just being honest. “I just feel everything’s easier with Meryl. It’s a different vibe,” Maks continued. “I’m going with her whether she’s coming with a different partner or not.”

“They’re just loving this Switch-Up!” quipped Tom Bergeron.

Are you warming up to the Switch now that you know it’ll only be for one week — or does it fill you with a sparkly rage?
