Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is in final talks to join the Adam Sandler comedy Pixels, about aliens versed in only 1980s video games who appropriate those strategies for their attack on Earth. A group of video game experts are called upon to defeat the threat. Chris Columbus is directing the pic. Josh Gad and Kevin James also star. [The Wrap]

• Mel Gibson is in talks to star in Blood Father, which the report describes as a “Taken-style action thriller.” The film is about an ex-con who is trying to protect his 16-year-old daughter from drug dealers who are out to kill her. Jean-Francois Richet (Mesrine) will direct from a script by Peter Craig (The Town). [Deadline]

• Tom Wilkinson (Michael Clayton) is being eyed for the Lyndon B. Johnson role in Ava DuVernay‘s Selma. The film chronicles Martin Luther King Jr.’s voting-rights campaign. David Oyelowo stars in the project, which Oprah is producing with Brad Pitt’s Plan B. [The Wrap]

• Bobby Cannavale (Blue Jasmine) is in talks to join his girlfriend Rose Byrne and Melissa McCarthy in Spy for director Paul Feig. Jude Law, Jason Statham, and Miranda Hart also star in the comedy about a “James Bond-type” spy (McCarthy). The project was previously titled Susan Cooper. [The Wrap; Deadline]
