Madonna is attached to direct an adaptation of Rebecca Walker’s novel Adé: A Love Story. The book, which was published last October, tells Walker’s autobiographical story of a biracial college student whose romance with a young Swahili man, Adé, near Kenya is interrupted by civil war.

Madonna last directed W.E. in 2011, the story of King Edward VIII and his notorious romance with the American divorcée Wallis Simpson.

Walker will produce Adé, along with Bruce Cohen (The Silver Linings Playbook) and Jessica Leventhal, Bruce Cohen Productions’ director of development. No screenwriter is yet attached.
