• Helena Bonham Carter is in final negotiations to reprise her role as the Red Queen in Through the Looking Glass, Disney’s follow-up to 2010’s box office sensation Alice in Wonderland. Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska are also returning as the Mad Hatter and Alice in the James Bobin-directed sequel set for a May 27, 2016 release. [Variety]

• Taraji P. Henson (Person of Interest) will star in Universal’s Term Life, starring Vince Vaughn and Hailee Steinfeld. Peter Billingsley is directing the film about a heist man for hire who botched a job and is now on the run from all the seedy characters he’s done business with. [Variety]

Bates Motel’s Olivia Cooke is in talks to star in Me & Earl & the Dying GirlJesse Andrews’ 2012 Black List adaptation of his own novel. Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (The Town That Dreaded Sundown) will direct the coming-of-age tale about a Pittsburgh high school student whose mother compels him to befriend a sick girl. [The Wrap]

House of Cards actors Sebastian Arcelus (Lucas Goodwin) and Gerald McRaney (Raymond Tusk) have boarded the cast of The Best of Me, an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ novel about former high school sweethearts who reunite when a mutual friend dies. Michael Hoffman (The Last Station) will direct the film which also stars James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan. [Deadline]

• Carey Elwes (The Princess Bride), Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones), and Drew Roy (Falling Skies) have boarded the dark comedy thriller Sugar Mountain about family and a hoax gone wrong. Richard Gray (Lookalike) is directing. [THR]
