Tom Bergeron has set the date for the last time he’ll introduce a montage of grandmothers tripping down the stairs while losing their wigs.

ABC has confirmed that the genial host of America’s Funniest Home Videos will leave the series at the end of next season, its 25th. Bergeron made reference to his departure in a tweet on Friday, and explained his decision to Vulture in this manner: “I’m embracing change… As Doctor Who fans know, every so often a regeneration is a good thing.'”

Bergeron — who continues to host Dancing with the Stars — will walk away from AFV as its longest-tenured emcee, having joined the viewer-submitted goofy video series in 2001. (Its previous hosts were Bob Saget and the tandem of Daisy Fuentes and John Fugelsang.)

A replacement for Bergeron hasn’t been named yet.
