Everybody breathe!

Cristin Milioti, The Mother, has debunked the recent theory that her character will die in the finale of How I Met Your Mother. When asked about the growing speculation, the actress told The Hollywood Reporter, “That’s insane. There are some crazy conspiracy theories, which really makes me love the fans more… That is so crazy.”

Of course, a careful reading shows she doesn’t actually deny anything. (Lance Bass and Joey Fatone also said it was crazy for there to be an *N Sync reunion at the VMAs this year…and we all know how that turned out.) But her shock does bode well that this comedy ending in a horribly upsetting way isn’t a completely forgone conclusion.

Elsewhere in the video, Milioti noted that the ending is exactly what creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas always planned. Calling it “beautiful,” she continued, “They’ve had this vision for nine years, and it’s in great hands. They know exactly what they want to do.”

Fans only have to drive themselves crazy for a few more weeks; How I Met Your Mother‘s hourlong finale airs March 31 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
