Fans of The Voice, you may want to sit down for this: Cee Lo Green is leaving the show.

The musician appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in an episode airing Wednesday to talk about joining Lionel Richie on tour, and when DeGeneres asked him what he’s up to now, he revealed he’s leaving The Voice for good.

“I’m going to continue my relationship with NBC, I have a television show development deal with them as well, and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year. But yeah, I’m going to miss The Voice too,” he said before turning to the audience and saying, “I’m not coming back, guys.”

This was news to DeGeneres, who thought he was just taking a leave from the show to go on tour. “I don’t want to wear out my welcome there. I have so many other things I want to do, I haven’t released an album in four years,” Green said.

So Green is getting back to music, which is great news for fans of his catchy tunes. His tour with Richie, dubbed “All the Hits All Night Long” kicks off in May.
