Jack Antonoff's Bleachers: Hear first song 'I Wanna Get Better'
Jack Antonoff, one-third of chart-topping band fun. and one whole of Lena Dunham’s other half, released a song from his latest side project today.
“I Wanna Get Better,” the first single from Bleachers, features a sing-along-ready chorus with group vocals and optimistic lyrics. This isn’t the first time Antonoff’s been the leader though — he fronted Steel Train, a New Jersey-based indie rock band, before fun.
Check out the new single, and see our picks for the best of Steel Train below in case one Jack Antonoff song isn’t enough for you.
Steel Train used their roots as inspiration for the high-energy “Bullet,” borrowing from fellow Jersey boy Bruce Springsteen:
“Kill Monsters in the Rain” starts off slow but builds up to an emotional, angry chorus. Also, A+ for its use of xylophone in the intro.
Bonus: Antonoff’s sister, fashion designer Rachel Antonoff sang her own version of the band’s “Fall Asleep” for Terrible Thrills Vol. 1, an album that features all-female covers of the songs on Steel Train.
