Even though they no longer share a judges’ table on American Idol, that doesn’t mean Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey can’t still go head to head.

Yesterday, both ladies unveiled brand new videos. Minaj pulled back the curtain on the clip for her new single “Lookin Ass N—a,” which puts her in the middle of the desert in stark black and white and gives her a machine gun (until the end, when she gets a second machine gun). It’s not especially subtle, but it does get her point across. Give it a watch below:

That track comes from the upcoming Young Money compilation Rise of an Empire, and according to the video chyron, will also be included on Minaj’s forthcoming The Pink Print project.

A few hours later, Carey sat down with MTV’s Sway and let the world watch the video for her just-premiered new single “You’re Mine (Eternal).” The clip sends Carey to the rain forest, where she’s a mermaid apparently? It’s unclear.

There are also shots of Trey Songz (who did a remix of the track) at a photo shoot, far away from the rain forest (which looks super fake). All the while, Carey looks deeply uncomfortable to be topless (though pleased to be covered with glitter).

Neither MTV nor Vevo is allowing embedding of the video at the moment, so go watch it there if you really want it.

Which diva’s video is the victor? While Carey’s clip is lush, and the song has the slight edge, it’s hard to deny Minaj’s minimalist intensity. More machine guns, Mariah!

Leave your choice of winner in the comments. And just out of curiosity: What’s your excitement level for Carey’s upcoming album?
