Victoria Justice thriller gets MTV series order
MTV is giving Victoria Justice’s project based on an RL Stine novel a series order.
The cable network has greenlit Eye Candy for 10 episodes.
The cyber thriller centers around Lindy (Justice), a beautiful but reclusive hacker whose blog exposes everything from terrorist plots to suspected killers. After her roommate convinces her to try online dating, Lindy is targeted by a dangerous cyber stalker, whom she believes is one of her suitors. When things take a deadly turn, she teams up with the city’s cyber-crime unit to catch the killer.
Justice is a veteran of the Nickelodeon talent farm, having begun her acting career at age 10. She co-starred on the hit Zoey 101 and then later landed her own show, Victorious, as well as recently recorded her debut pop album.
UPDATE: MTV says that despite the series order, the original pilot directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) will not air. The first episode will instead be re-shot with Victoria Justice and Harvey Guillen, but the supporting roles will be recast. Hardwicke will remain on board as an executive producer along with Jason Blum, Yvonne Bernard and Beth Elise Hawk. The project is written and co-exec produced by Emmy Grinwis.
