The CW’s latest pilot brings the Apocalypse to the Vampire Diaries network.

In the sci-fi drama The Messengers, a mysterious object crashes on Earth and a group of seemingly unconnected strangers die from its energy pulse. But then they awaken again as angels charged with preventing the coming Apocalypse.

Newcomer Eoghan O’Donnell (Teen Wolf) is the writer-producer on the project, which joins several other pilots in contention for spots on the CW’s schedule next fall: The Supernatural spin-off Tribes, cop-medical-zombie drama iZombie, Arrow spin-off The Flash, the accidental preggo drama Jane the Virgin and terrorism thriller Identity.
