CBS’ latest pilot almost sounds like a drama version of TV’s biggest comedy hit.

The network has ordered a series about a group of eccentric geniuses, only this gang is trying to solve the world’s problems and combat modern-age threats.

The project is titled Scorpion, and is from power-producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Sleepy Hollow), along with Heather Kadin, Walter O’Brien, Scooter Braun and Danny Rose. Nick Santora (Prison Break) is the writer. The pilot’s director is a hot one, Justin Lin (Fast & Furious 6).

The story is loosely based on producer O’Brien’s life. According to Deadline’s original post on this project in October, O’Brien had the fourth-highest documented IQ and “recruited the world’s greatest intellects to his company where they not only solved the world’s most pressing and significant problems, but also helped each other learn to fit in and live.”
