B.J. Novak's secretive 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' character revealed?
Marc Webb is being sneaky.
In a seemingly inconsequential tweet Monday, the Amazing Spider-Man 2 director made a joke about almost wanting to shoot the film in black and white — until he realized that B.J. Novak’s book trailer beat him to the punch. Webb also left a little parenthetical clue about Novak’s as-yet-unannounced Spider-Man 2 role: “B.J. Novak (A. Smythe).”

A. Smythe as in…Alistair Smythe? The paralyzed son of Spider-Slayer creator Spencer Smythe who eventually turns into the Ultimate Spider-Slayer? As if The Amazing Spider-Man 2 needed even more villains.
It’s not much to go on. We at least know he’ll be part of Oscorp and look like a bespoke English professor.

But what do you think? Is it possible that there’s another non-spider-slayer A. Smythe? Are they setting up a new super villain for a future film? Sound off in the comments.
