How I Met Your Dad is starting to take shape. In fact, producers are already on the hunt for the New Gang.

EW has confirmed that casting is officially in progress for the host of characters that will populate the show, which will revolve around a woman named Sally (Girl Ted), a “vibrant, messy and unpredictable” woman described as a “female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she’s going in life.” The real twist for this main character, though? She’s got a husband! But we’re guessing ISN’T the “dad” to which the title refers, as the character description for Sally says she’s “thinking of calling it quits” with said husband (named Gavin).

As for her circle of friends, here’s the scoop, via TVLine, who first reported the news:

Juliet is Sally’s “sexy, flamboyant, energetic, party-girl BFF” who runs a successful fashion blog and thinks Gavin is “terminally boring.”

Danny is Sally’s gay older brother who is a Type A, overachieving lawyer with whom she has little in common. “They nonetheless share a tight bond,” says the casting description, “although Sally’s decision to move in with Danny after her split with Gavin promises to test that bond.” Danny is also married to Todd, another member of the inner circle who is described as warm, outgoing, and one of Sally’s closest friends from college.

Then there’s Frank, a “hot nerd” who works in IT at Juliet’s company and has a huge crush on Sally. Too bad “it’s a one-sided flirtation,” says the casting announcement “at least for the moment.”

The last character of sorts described is the narrator, who will fill a role similar to Bob Saget’s voiceover character on HIMYM. The voice will tell the story from the future, as she, too, is telling the tale to her children.

How I Met Your Dad , which was officially announced in November, is one of the buzziest projects going into the busy pilot season, when potential new shows are put before networks for consideration. The official network fall lineups will be revealed in May at the annual Upfronts in New York.
