MTV picks up new scripted family drama series from 'Bones' writer

MTV has picked up the drama series Finding Carter from executive producer Terri Minsky (Sex and the City) and based on an original script by Bones writer Emily Silver .
The first drama series MTV has announced this year, Finding Carter is a coming-of-age story about a teenager named Carter (Kathryn Prescott) who seemingly has the perfect life with fun-loving single mom Lori (Milena Govich), until the police bust a high school party and it’s discovered that Lori abducted Carter as a toddler. Now, Carter must return to the family who thought they had lost her. As she navigates brand-new parents, a twin sister, high school, and boys, she vows to find Lori before the only mom she’s ever known is gone forever. Finding Carter is an unconventional family drama about a girl who is quickly realizing that sometimes the people closest to you are the ones who have the most to hide.
In addition to Prescott, the series will also star Cynthia Watros, Alexis Denisof, Anna Jacoby-Heron, and Zac Pullam. Meredith Baxter, Robert Pine, and Milena Govich will appear in recurring roles. The pilot was directed by Scott Speer (Step Up Revolution).
