FX sets premiere date for George Lopez comedy 'Saint George'
Saint George
- TV Show
George Lopez will once again be a TV leading man in the new FX original series Saint George, which will premiere March 6 at 9 p.m. ET.
The half-hour, multi-camera ensemble comedy stars George Lopez as George Lopez, a newly divorced working man-turned-entrepreneur who balances the clashing culture of his all-American ex-wife (Justified‘sJenn Lyon) with that of his overbearing Mexican-American mother (In the Heights’ Olga Merediz).
Also in the mix are George’s 11-year-old son Harper (Kaden Gibson), his freeloading uncle (Danny Trejo) and cousin (David Zayas), and a “tough and sexy” assistant principal (Diana Maria Riva) who supervises him while he gives back to the community by teaching at night school.
It’s a return to TV for Lopez, who previously starred on his self-titled ABC sitcom George Lopez and briefly dipped his feet into late night with Lopez Tonight on TBS. Saint George is co-created by Lopez, Matt Williams, and David McFadzean, who will EP along with Michael Rotenberg, Dete Meserve, and Judd Payne.
The show will try its luck with a 10/90 episode model, meaning that the series’ ratings performance during its first 10-episode run will determine whether the network orders an additional 90 episodes.
