Discovery’s first-ever miniseries Klondike that stars Games of Thrones’ Richard Madden turned into a gold mine for the cabler. The event program that focuses on the last great Gold Rush averaged 3.4 million viewers on Monday — giving Discovery its most watched Monday in prime time ever, according to Nielsen.

Klondike also broke records among men over 18 (2.23 million), and achieved its highest rated Monday in over a decade among persons 25-54 (1.80 million).

The miniseries also stars Abbie Cornish (RoboCop), Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction) and Sam Shepard (August: Osage County). Part one will repeat tonight at 7 followed by the premiere of part two at 9.

The third and final installment of the mini-series will air Jan. 22.
