Avengers: Age of Ultron

• Harrison Ford will star opposite Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) and Ellen Burstyn (Requiem for a Dream) in The Age of Adaline, about a 29-year-old woman at the turn of the 20th century who stops aging after a near fatal accident. She exists in mostly solitary conditions till she meets a man who she’d rather give up immortality for. How, or why this is possible in the context of the movie have yet to be explained. Lee Toland Krieger (Celeste & Jesse Forever) is directing. [THR]

• Thomas Kretschmann (Wanted) has reportedly been cast as Nazi officer Baron Wolfgang von Strucker in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. James Spader is playing the main villain, Ultron, in the Marvel pic, set for a May 1, 2015 release. [The Wrap]

• Julianne Moore (The Kids are All Right) will join Greta Gerwig (Frances Ha) in Rebecca Miller’s New York City-set comedy of manners Maggie’s Plan. [Deadline]

• Reese Witherspoon has reportedly passed on The Intern, the Nancy Meyers workplace comedy that she was previously attached to star in alongside Robert De Niro. The report says that Warner Bros. may pursue Kristen Wiig for the lead role. [Variety]

• Emory Cohen, who starred as Bradley Cooper’s character’s son in The Place Beyond the Pines will join director Rupert Wyatt and stars Mark Wahlberg and Brie Larson for the remake of The Gambler. [THR]

• Mischa Barton (The O.C.) will play classic screen siren Jean Harlow in the biopic By Love Reclaimed, which focuses on Paul Bern’s 1932 death. Harlow’s husband of two months, Bern was found shot in their home. [Variety]
