Steven Seagal just had this funny idea that he could be the governor of a state in America. Which is totally an original idea that Steven Seagal had, and not a joke you totally thought of back in 2003 when Arnold Schwarzenegger decided that he wanted to be the governor of California. “Sure, and Steven Seagal will be governor of Arizona!” you probably said, but only after your friends had already made the same joke about Sylvester Stallone/Pennsylvania, Bruce Willis/New York, and Van Damme/North Dakota.

No no no, this is something Steven Seagal himself said to ABC 15 in Phoenix. Specifically, he said that he “would remotely consider” running for governor of Arizona. Like how you sometimes remotely consider dipping Oreos into Tabasco sauce, or like how sometimes a fish remotely considers crawling up onto land. “I have a lot of other responsibilities that may be more important to address,” says Steven Seagal, swanning on what appears to be a house designed by your grandmother the Flintstones fetishist. He’s also against open borders. Disappointingly, the interviewer does not ask Seagal why the best Steven Seagal movie is the one where Steven Seagal dies in the first act. He also doesn’t ask Steven Seagal why Steven Seagal is not in Expendables 3. But Steven Seagal does name-drop Reagan. Watch below:
