Versace, Michael Kors, Kohl's most-searched fashion brands of 2013
Fashion is a fickle business. Or, as Heidi Klum puts it; “One day you’re in, and the next you’re out.”
This year, the buzz surrounding brands like Versace, Kohl’s, Michael Kors, and JC Penney was strong enough to propel them to the top of the fashion heap on Google’s 2013 Zeitgeist.
The annual list (released Tuesday) includes several fashion-related categories, each providing insight into the most-searched and top-trending designer labels, clothing brands, and apparel retailers.
Versace was the most-searched high fashion brand of 2013, followed by Michael Kors, Diesel Black Gold, Gucci, and Kate Spade.
In the ranking of apparel brands and retailers, Kohl’s took the top spot, with JCPenney, Nordstrom, Forever 21, and Victoria’s Secret rounding out the top 5.
Gucci was the most-Googled jewelry brand, TOMS the number one shoe brand, and Black Friday the most-searched annual event. Although the “How To” category is not fashion-centric, the top spot went to “How to Tie a Tie.”
While Zeitgeist provides a comprehensive look at search interest, the list is not a measurement of a fashion brand’s real-world popularity or financial success. Interest in the Versace brand, for example, could have been generated by the Lifetime movie House of Versace, and the Drake luxury rap “Versace.”
