'Lizzie McGuire' actor Daniel Escobar dies at 49
Daniel Escobar — best known for playing drama/chorus teacher Mr. Escobar on Lizzie McGuire — died Friday of complications from diabetes, according to CNN. He was 49.
The actor appeared opposite Hilary Duff on her breakthrough Disney Channel series from 2001-2002, as well as in the 2003 Lizzie McGuire movie. Additionally, Escobar had a recurring role on Dharma & Greg from 1999-2002 and made appearances in several TV series, including How I Met Your Mother, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Two and a Half Me, Desperate Housewives, Weeds, and Charmed. His last TV appearance was in an episode of Whitney. Escobar also did theater; he won a Helen Hayes Award in 2008 for his role in She Stoops to Comedy, a play by David Greenspan.
