• Hugh Jackman is in talks to play Blackbeard in Warner Bros.’ Pan. Joe Wright (Anna Karenina) is directing the Peter Pan origin story off of a script from Jason Fuchs (Ice Age: Continental Drift). The role was reportedly originally offered to Javier Bardem, who ended up passing on the project. Ryan Gosling also reportedly passed on the Hook part. In this film, Blackbeard will be Pan’s main antagonist, while Hook serves as an ally. In addition to Pan, Wright is looking for an actor to portray Tiger Lily. [Variety]

• Ricky Gervais will return as Dr. McPhee, Ben Stiller’s character’s boss, in Night at the Museum 3. The Shawn Levy-directed threequel also stars Robin Williams as Teddy Roosevelt and is set for a Dec. 25, 2014 release. Gervais can be seen next in Muppets Most Wanted (out March 21, 2014). • Her lead Joaquin Phoenix is reportedly being eyed for a villain role in Warner Bros. Batman v. Superman pic. Zack Snyder is directing Henry CavillBen Affleck, and Gal Gadot in the Man of Steel sequel, which is keeping its plot under wraps. Phoenix has historically avoided big budget superhero fare. This would be a big departure for the three-time Oscar nominee, who is also reportedly considering joining Gus Van Sant’s Sea of Trees. • Ivana Milicevic (Banshee) has joined Cameron Crowe‘s untitled pic to play the biographer of Bill Murray‘s character. The ensemble comedy focuses on Bradley Cooper‘s defense contractor character and his romance with Emma Stone‘s Air Force pilot. Rachel McAdams, Alec Baldwin, John Krasinski, Danny McBride, and Jay Baruchel also star in the Hawaii-set film. [Deadline]

• Leland Orser (Revolution) will join Mark Wahlberg and Brie Larson in Rupert Wyatt’s The Gambler. Orser plays Wahlberg’s boss in the remake of the 1974 pic loosely inspired by a Dostoyevsky novella. [Deadline]

• Daniel Wu (New Police Story) and Clancy Brown (Homefront) have signed on for Warcraft, directed by Duncan Jones, in undisclosed roles. [Deadline]
