Who knew Sherlock was a fan of slow-burning, explicitly sexual hip-hop?

Well, that’s elementary, my dear Watson, especially when it comes to Jimmy Kimmel Live late night antics. Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch appeared on Kimmel last night and gave a dramatic reading of R. Kelly’s “Genius,” a song from the artist’s upcoming album Black Panties.

“I give you Emmy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA nominee, Benedict Cumberbatch,” announced Kimmel to an impenetrable wall of audience shrieks. It was a simple setup — the English actor sat only on a stool, bathed in a single light — you know, the better to let the lyrical greatness shine through.

“Go to sleep, and when we wake up, I’mma hit that thing again,” Cumberbatch reads.
