Your favorite mom-and-pop a cappella competition show is back in less than two weeks, and it’s time to get ready for the doo-wop.

The Sing-Off‘s unique sound is a mix of old and young, classic and new; and this exclusive clip of the premiere episode, airing Dec. 9, is the show at its most endearing. Street Corner Rennaissance, the oldest group in the competition, manages to even out-charm those 1D moppets, putting a soulful spin on One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” in their debut performance.

Judge Shawn Stockman is so impressed, he’s compelled to get up and give a round of hugs to the gentlemen of SCR. You better believe I’d be giving them hugs too, if only to see if some of their cool would rub off on me. Check out sneak peak below:

The Sing-Off premieres Monday, Dec. 9, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
