The much-tattooed, smooth-voiced Maroon 5 frontman and coach on The Voice Adam Levine has been named People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2013. The singer was modest in his acceptance of the title, telling People: “As a musician, you have fantasies that you want to win Grammys, but I didn’t really think that this was on the table.”
2013 has been the culmination of many things for the 34-year-old star, who keeps in shape with yoga and spinning. He’s sharpened his acting chops with turns on American Horror Story and Family Guy, moved from musical guest to host on Saturday Night Live, and got engaged to model Behati Prinsloo.
Levine joins a long line of Hollywood hotties — last year, Magic Mike star Channing Tatum white tank top-ed his way to the top; in 2011, Silver Linings Playbook star Bradley Cooper was named sexiest. Levine also joins a list of ‘firsts’ for the magazine: Denzel Washington was the first African-American named Sexiest Man Alive back in 1996; Levine is the first Jewish man (though Harrison Ford,1998, does get an Adam Sandler “Chanukah Song” mention!) to grace the annual cover.
