Could The CW’s Reign turn from a ratings peasant into a king (or at least into a duke or a really badass squire)?

Last week, the show’s total viewer numbers and 18-34 demo experienced an uptick. Then Thursday night’s episode (1.7 million viewers, 0.7 adults 18-49) saw more increases, this time boosting the show’s adults 18-49 demo rating another notch for the first time since its premiere. So that’s two weeks of (admittedly mild) increases. It’s too early to know for sure and the show still sheds way to much of its TVD lead-in. But coming after The CW turned heads by giving its first-ever crunchy-gravel show a full-season pickup, this is a positive sign.

The CW’s other Thursday drama, The Vampire Diaries, did well too. Steady this week in the demo (chart below), and once again beating ABC and NBC.

Also last night: CBS’ Big Bang Theory went up slightly in the ratings with the return of NBC’s Parks and Recreation, down 8 percent — it’s almost like Big Bang enjoys crushing it. The rest of CBS’ comedy block was up a bit too, though Elementary was down. The rest of NBC’s block fell had Sean Saves the World dropping 29 percent without last week’s Voice lead-in and Michael J. Fox Show and Parenthood stead. ABC’s block was all within 4 percent of last week. Fox’s The X Factor was up from last week’s disastrous “do-over” episode, while Glee was steady.
